Drimpton Annual Christmas Show

The Annual Christmas Show last Friday night saw a full audience of all ages come together to have loads of fun made by villagers for villagers.

Many thanks go to everyone who helped in so many ways on stage, off stage, beforehand and afterwards in a real whole community effort.

We were there to have fun and also to raise funds for Children vs Cancer, the charity which provides support and care for sick children and their families. There were many highlights.

We started with the Nativity Scene with a cast of children, featuring Beatrix as Mary and Matthew as Joseph, with Mabel once again as the Angel, joined this year by Caitlin as the Donkey.

The evening went on with several readings, music and sketches. We were especially fortunate to be entertained by Peter telling Roald Dahl’s version of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ – from memory!

And we cannot forget Lesley and her seasonal song sung to the tune of ‘Summertime’ in which she made it clear that the only way to get through a major catering event is to have plenty of sherry to hand.

Very many thanks to everyone who gave so many Raffle Prizes, and for everyone who then bought tickets. So many people came away as winners, once tickets were drawn by brothers Orrin and Finlay.

The evening not only provided us all with a great time, but raised the amazing sum of £499 for the charity, which of course was rounded up to make the never-before total of £500!!!

Well done Andrew for taking charge of this wonderful event each year.
