Valentine’s Afternoon Tea
If you weren’t there you missed a treat – not a hall full of dewy-eyed couples (we’ve all done that)
but tables of 6 friends and neighbours for a lovely sociable afternoon to dispel February blues. So, in true Drimpton fashion, lots of chatter, laughter and cake. What a sight met our eyes. Tables set with dainty china. Red serviettes shaped into water lilies hiding secret ginger biscuit hearts. And three beautifully sculptured roses in a pretty vase. All that was before the food appeared! We were allocated tables sensitively, organised by Viv so that friends and newcomers were happily mixed. The usual Drimpton chatter was momentarily quelled for enough time for Tom to tell a naughty but very amusing story cleaned up for the assembled company. Then the food arrived. A three tiered cake stand between two people – where did all those come from? - delicately stacked with sandwiches, sausage rolls, tiny quiche bites, fruit cake, decorated cup cakes, fruit meringues (if I’ve missed anything, my husband nay have popped it into his mouth when I wasn’t looking) and tea. Everything home made of course. The preparation must have taken hours, knowing also that special dietary requirements had been taken into account. So, a huge thank you to Viv and the girls for an exceptional occasion.’

A very Special Lunch
“After 25 years of organising the village lunches, the last almost 10 years with the help of Rosemary, together with the lovely ladies who have given their time so readily, I have decided to “hang up my apron” after the Christmas Lunch on Friday12th December. I would like to thank all the wonderful people who have attended the lunches, some from almost the beginning for their loyalty.
Should there be anyone who would like to take over from Rosemary and me we would be very willing to help in any way.
If you would like to be included in the Christmas Lunch, could you kindly let me know on 868005, the price is £12 and we would be very pleased to see you. The monies raised will be donated as in other years, to Crisis at Christmas.
We are not going away altogether and will be arranging a few afternoon teas, and we will give more details in the next newsletter….Viv”
