All trustees, volunteers, hirers, and users of Drimpton Village Hall share the responsibility to uphold this policy by:

  • Reporting Concerns: Promptly reporting any instances of discrimination, harassment, bullying, or victimisation to the management committee.

  • Promoting Inclusivity: Encouraging participation from underrepresented groups and challenging discriminatory practices and attitudes.

  • Management Committee Members and Trustees: Will lead efforts to ensure compliance with this policy and champion inclusivity.

  • Visitors and Hirers: Are expected to respect this policy and contribute to a welcoming environment.

 

Creating an Accessible Village Hall

Accessibility is a core principle in our management of Drimpton Village Hall. We commit to:

  • Providing accessible facilities, such as accessible toilets, step-free entry, ramps, and clear signage.

  • Conducting regular access audits to identify and address physical and procedural barriers.

  • Offering support and adjustments for sensory, physical, or cognitive impairments, including induction loops, large print materials, and tailored communication methods.

  • Clearly communicating the accessibility features and limitations of our facilities through our website and promotional materials.

 

Inclusive Program of Events

Our events program is designed to be inclusive and accessible, aiming to meet the diverse needs of our community. We will:

  • Engage participants from different backgrounds to shape and evaluate our activities.

  • Ensure communication materials are inclusive, using plain English, large print, or digital formats when requested.

  • Regularly review adjustments to ensure they remain effective and meet community needs.

 

Grievance Procedure

If you experience or witness any breach of this policy, please contact the Chair of the Management Committee or a committee member. Complaints will be treated seriously and addressed confidentially, promptly, and impartially.

 

Monitoring and Review

  • This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure alignment with current legislation and best practices.

  • Regular feedback from users, visitors, and the community will inform our improvements in accessibility and inclusivity.
